Peek Through

I have mentioned on Twitter (@cathybernados) that I have been working on a poem. I am not really through with it, but I’d let you have a glimpse.

“Nothing would change between us”, that’s what you said.
I held onto your word, but things haven’t been the same.
Nothing came easy; not with your lies.
Nothing calmed me since you left my side.
Feeling empty, I was dismayed.
There was nothing there, I tell you, but pain.

When you left, days seemed like they were nights.
For even the sun did shine, its light was not so bright.
No longer can you see me smile, not like before.
No longer can you hear the same laugh, not anymore.
No longer will my heart beat in the way it did before.
Not after this. That is one thing for sure.

There was complete silence.
There was unbearable pain.
There was a sudden change,
Since you left that day.
I was imprisoned by my thoughts.
I was silenced by your words.
But in this silence, it finally occurred.

And I’m out of words. Any thoughts?
